Kazakhstan–Jordan Business Forum Held in Astana with the Participation of the President of Kazakhstan and the King of Jordan
The Kazakhstan–Jordan Business Forum was held in the capital of Kazakhstan with the participation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan.
The event, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan together with JSC “NC KAZAKH INVEST” and Jordanian partners, served as an important platform to discuss prospects for trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the two countries. The forum brought together representatives of ministries, chambers of commerce and industry, as well as more than 100 Kazakhstani and over 50 Jordanian companies.
Opening the event, the leaders of both countries emphasized the high level of bilateral relations and expressed their readiness to expand cooperation in industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, logistics, education, and tourism.
Over the past two years, trade turnover between the two countries has shown steady growth: in 2024, it amounted to USD 6.3 million, an increase of 6.3% compared to the previous year. Imports from Jordan grew by 26.9% to USD 2.6 million, while exports from Kazakhstan reached USD 3.7 million.
During the plenary session, speeches were delivered by Chairman of the Investment Committee of the MFA of Kazakhstan Gabidulla Ospankulov, Acting Chairman of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan Asan Zhakishev, Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Industry Fathi Al-Jagbir, and Chairman of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Khalil Abdel Rahman.
In his remarks, Mr. Ospankulov noted that since 2005 the gross inflow of direct investment from Jordan to Kazakhstan has amounted to USD 15.4 million, and 59 enterprises with Jordanian capital are currently registered in the country.
“We see great potential for further expanding bilateral relations. It is important for us that Jordanian businesses are actively showing interest in Kazakhstan, and we are ready to create the most favorable conditions for their entry into our market and for strengthening cooperation in areas such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and processing,” — emphasized the Chairman of the Investment Committee.
The forum included a ceremony to sign agreements in the fields of agriculture, pharmaceuticals, veterinary medicine and financial markets, providing for the launch of joint projects and deepening of industry cooperation.
In addition, B2B negotiations between entrepreneurs of both countries were held, during which specific projects and joint initiatives were discussed. Special interest was drawn to proposals in the areas of agricultural processing, pharmaceutical production, and the creation of joint export-oriented enterprises.
The forum reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to intensify trade and investment dialogue, deepen economic ties, and promote sustainable partnership between Kazakhstan and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
