Kazakh and Slovak Businessmen Discussed Prospects of Investment Cooperation

Issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of new technologies, industry, investments, export development and implementation of joint high-tech projects were discussed at the Kazakh-Slovak round table “Kazakhstan and Slovakia: new opportunities for cooperation at a new stage”, organized during the visit of the head of the Slovak Foreign Ministry Ivan Kochok to Kazakhstan. The event was attended by representatives of national companies, ministries and departments, as well as more than 30 Kazakh and Slovak firms.

During the round table, the parties paid special attention to the further development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and practical aspects of doing business. Slovak businessmen were particularly interested in the competitive advantages for foreign investments in Kazakhstan.


Opening the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerlan Alimbayev noted the importance of deepening Kazakh-Slovak mutually beneficial trade and economic relations, development of investment partnership and transfer of advanced technologies.

“Slovak experience and technologies in the field of alternative and renewable energy sources are of great interest to Kazakhstan. This is especially important in the context of the modernization of Kazakhstan's energy sector and the transition to a green economy”,- Yerlan Alimbayev added.

Acting as a moderator of the dialogue platform, Chairman of the Investment Committee Ardak Zebeshev invited the participants of the meeting to actively establish direct contacts with the Kazakh business community.


In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia Ivan Korcok positively assessed the pace of economic development of Kazakhstan, as well as the high investment attractiveness, noted the increasing interest on the part of Slovak business in Kazakhstan as an important partner in the Central Asian region.

Also, within the framework of the meeting with the business of the Slovak Republic, Zhandos Temirgali, Deputy Chairman of the Board of “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC, made a presentation on the main advantages of implementing investment projects in the Republic of Kazakhstan, on measures of state support for business, as well as the activities of KAZAKH INVEST. During his speech, he also noted the great potential of investment cooperation between the two countries, and called on the business community of Slovak companies to mutually beneficial cooperation.

At the same time, on the sidelines of the event, the Kazakh side held a number of bilateral meetings with Slovak public and private companies to discuss new approaches to the implementation of joint investment projects in the field of biotechnology, mechanical engineering, IT, etc.

In addition, during the visit of the Slovak delegation to Kazakhstan, the domestic company in the field of waste management, integration of renewable energy and green construction, “TAU innovative Solutions” LLP and the Slovak production company “Kuruc Company spol s.r.o.” announced the conclusion of a “Strategic partnership agreement”. Within the framework of the document, the parties plan to build a plant for processing combined packaging and production of environmental panels in Almaty. By the way, the Agreement provides for the transfer of Slovak technologies and the phased localization of production for further scaling of the plant in other regions.

It should be noted that the organizers of the dialogue platform of the business circles of the two countries were the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC.
