Kazakhstan and Czech Republic are Increasing Investment Cooperation

On Monday, a Kazakhstan-Czech Business Forum was held in Astana with the participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Smailov, and the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala. The forum was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Czech Republic, and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kazakhstan as part of the Czech delegation's visit led by Prime Minister to Kazakhstan.

The Kazakhstan-Czech Business Forum aimed to expand economic ties between the two countries, develop business contacts, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakh and Czech entrepreneurs.

The event was attended by heads of state agencies, national companies, representatives of industry and regional business associations, as well as leaders of leading Czech companies such as Škoda Transportation, TELMO, EGAP, STV Group, and others. In total, more than 150 delegates participated in the forum.

The event opened with welcoming speeches from Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala.

In addition, the Chairman of the Board of National Company "KAZAKH INVEST", Meirzhan Yussupov, spoke at the plenary session with a presentation of investment opportunities in Kazakhstan, as well as measures of government support and invited Czech entrepreneurs to implement investment projects in Kazakhstan.

Also, at the meeting, the Vice President of the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic, Michal Stefl, the Chairman of the Board of National Company "Kazakhstan Engineering", Temirzhan Abdrakhmanov, and the project leader of the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic, Ivana Yavorova, who presented Czech companies that came to Kazakhstan for B2B meetings, gave their speeches.

During the forum, a ceremony was held to sign bilateral documents. Thus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Skoda Transportation signed a framework agreement on basic principles, and the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed a Memorandum of Understanding in military-technical cooperation with the Intergovernmental Agency for Defense Cooperation (AMOS) of the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic. Also, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between "NC "Kazakhstan Engineering" JSC and Omnipol.

"NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC and Transko signed an agreement on the project of assembly of bodies for vehicles in Kazakhstan, and the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and EGAP signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of financing investment projects.

The Czech Republic is an important partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union, and there are several intergovernmental agreements between the countries aimed at deepening trade and economic cooperation, promoting and protecting investments.

Since 2005, the Czech Republic's direct investment in the economy of Kazakhstan has amounted to more than $281 million.
