American Companies Are Interested in Investments Into New Sectors of the Kazakh Economy

On September 15-16, 2022 in New York, bilateral meetings were held between the Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ardak Zebeshev and the Chairman of the Board of "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC Meirzhan Yussupov with representatives of American companies.

Representatives of the Kazakh delegation held talks with New York Mayor's Special Commissioner for International Affairs Edward Mermelstein. During the meeting, issues of expanding cooperation with the business community of New York City, where the headquarters of 50 of the world's 500 largest Fortune corporations are located, were discussed. In addition, the American side expressed interest in cooperation at the level of chambers of commerce, as well as in organizing visits by joint business missions of the two countries.

DoorDash holds 56% of the US food delivery market. According to the company's Global Head of Government Relations, Tonya Anaya, in May of this year, the company closed a deal to purchase the Finnish service Wolt, which has been present in Kazakhstan since 2019 and occupies one of the leading positions in the market.

During the meeting with the Managing Director of the global venture platform "Cyphr Ventures" Earl Patton, the parties agreed to establish relations with potential investors through the American platform, whose clients are entrepreneurs, enterprises and governments of different countries.

David Grayson, Chief Executive Officer of Auerbach Grayson investment company, announced his interest in investing his own and client funds in promising foreign markets, including Kazakhstan. An agreement was reached on the exchange of information on specific investment projects.

In addition, negotiations were held with the president of MK Industries, Ali Katut, who showed a high interest in investing in Kazakhstan in the production and processing of crops. It is worth noting that the company specializes in the supply of egg powder, edible oils, sugar, flour and other agro-industrial products, and also promotes a product line under its own Akli Food brand. An agreement was reached on the visit of the company's management to Kazakhstan in October this year.
