Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" Yerzhan Yelekeyev held a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of China Datang Corporation Ltd. Zou Lei, during which the parties discussed the implementation of investment projects of the corporation in Kazakhstan.
Welcoming the Chinese representatives, Y. Yelekeyev informed them about the work of KAZAKH INVEST in attracting foreign direct investment and expressed interest in further cooperation, in particular, in the coal chemistry industry.
"Kazakhstan has a huge potential in coal chemistry due to its rich reserves of raw materials, which, according to some estimates, should last for 300 years. Modern technologies allow us to produce various products for various industries with minimal environmental impact. In this regard, the estimated potential of coal chemistry in Kazakhstan is $25 billion," Y. Yelekeyev noted.
In turn, Z. Lei informed the Kazakh side about the project's progress for the construction of a 1 GW solar power plant with a 500 GW energy storage system in Kazakhstan, followed by the construction of a 180 km long power transmission line with 5 substations. As part of the project under development, the corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Akimat of the Almaty region. At the moment, to implement the project, a search is underway for a land plot with an area of 2000 hectares.
