The German company Rehau has launched window production in Kazakhstan.
On July 4, 2023, in Astana, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC "National Company "KAZAKH INVEST," the opening of the first production line for window profiles of the German company "Rehau" took place at the plant of LLP "Funke Kunststoffe." The annual capacity of the enterprise will be 3,000 tons of PVC extrusion window profiles.
"Rehau" is a global leader in innovative solutions for construction and engineering systems. The group of companies owns 41 factories, 23 administrative centers, 9 distribution centers, and has 105 sales offices. In Europe, there are 25 factories, 6 logistics centers, and about half of all sales offices. The company has representations in 68 countries. The company employs over 21,000 people.
The grand opening ceremony of the production was attended by the Head of "Rehau Window Solutions," Carsten Heuer, the Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ardak Zebeshev, and the Chairman of the Board of JSC "National Company "KAZAKH INVEST," Meirzhan Yussupov.
During the project presentation, Carsten Heuer stated that the company had been considering expanding its presence in the region for a long time, and Kazakhstan turned out to be the best platform to achieve these goals.
"We chose Kazakhstan as a country for production localization due to the developed infrastructure, favorable investment conditions, and the opportunity to export products to the markets of Central Asia and the CIS. In the domestic market, we plan to capture a share of 50% in the first three years, with subsequent increase to 70%," said Carsten Heuer.
Ardak Zebeshev, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted that the arrival of companies from Germany often has a multiplier effect since, following the companies that have come to Kazakhstan, their German partners consider the possibility of launching their own production on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A vivid example of this is the current collaboration project between LLP "Funke Kunststoffe" and "Rehau."
"Germany is an important strategic partner of Kazakhstan. Since 2005, German investors have invested about $6 billion in the economy of Kazakhstan. In addition, the recent visit of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, in June of this year, demonstrates the seriousness of the intentions of the parties in strengthening economic relations," concluded Ardak Zebeshev.
