Prospects of Investment Cooperation Were Discussed in Zhetysu Region

Zhetysu region, August 24, 2024 – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov and Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Gabidulla Ospankulov paid a working visit to the Zhetysu region, where they met with representatives of local businesses to explain measures of state support for investment and entrepreneurial activities in Kazakhstan, and also visited several production sites of local enterprises.

During the meeting with the region’s business community, Kuantyrov discussed a wide range of benefits, preferences, and support mechanisms for domestic and foreign investors: “We need to maintain a dialogue; your requests and suggestions are very important. Within the available resources, we are ready to help every investor and will do our best to make it comfortable for you to work in Kazakhstan. Today, we are implementing a new approach to attracting investments, starting with identifying priority industries with the country’s competitive advantages. It is planned to attract investors with formed investment proposals in priority sectors, taking into account the specifics of the regions and the requests of the business community.”

Ospankulov, in turn, provided the participants with detailed information about the NDIP’s mechanism, the “Green Corridor,” and the instrument of the “order” for investments.

Also during the trip, Kuantyrov and Ospankulov visited the “Asma Industrial” CHEKA, “Zharkent Starch Factory” LLP, “Khorgos Eastern Gate” FEZ, “Nurzholy Customs Service” LLP and “International Center for Cross-border Cooperation “Khorgos” FEZ.

Asma Industrial, commissioned in 2023, produces industrial batteries. The project cost 3.2 billion tenge.

Nurzholy Customs Service is an international transport and logistics center located at the Kazakhstan-China border, which was handed over to the state in 2023. The expansion of the area and the combined efforts of customs and border services have increased the capacity of the logistics center from 200 to 1,500 trucks per day.

On the territory of ICBC Khorgos, 22 investor companies are implementing 30 investment projects totaling 235 billion tenge. Five projects have been commissioned, and 12 projects are under construction. Since the center’s opening in April 2023, more than 1.5 million people have visited.
