Pakistan Conglomerate Considers Construction of Manufacturing Agricultural Plant

Today, KAZAKH INVEST held a meeting with the management of Pakistan's «Engro Corporation Limited», founded in 1965 in Karachi.

The multi-profile conglomerate invests in a wide portfolio of enterprises in the field of energy, agricultural products, petrochemical, and telecommunication infrastructure. To date, the Pakistani company has established joint ventures with the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Japan, according to the press service of the national company.

From Kazakh side, the meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin, Chairman of the Board of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" Meirzhan Yussupov, from the company "Engro Corporation Limited" in the line of strategy and business development Senior Vice President Khawaja Bilal  Hussein, CEO Hussein Hassan Ali and manager Nasir Syed Obaid.

The delegation specifically came to Kazakhstan to hold talks with representatives of interested central government agencies and organisations of quasi-public sector on the project to build an agricultural fertilizer plant. According to the investors, they are ready to invest about $1 billion in the project.

Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin informed the Pakistani partners about the measures of state support.

Meirzhan Yussupov emphasized that KAZAKH INVEST is ready to provide a range of services to support the project.

«One-third of investment projects under development are in the agro-industrial complex, so Pakistan's experience is important for us. Given that Kazakhstan ranks 6th in the world in terms of agricultural area, where more than 80% of the land (220 million hectares) is used for agricultural production», -  summed up the Chairman of the Board of KAZAKH INVEST.
