The Chinese Port of Qingdao is Ready to Connect Kazakhstan With the Countries of the Asia-Pacific Region
Astana hosted a meeting between "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC and a delegation from the city of Qingdao (People's Republic of China), which discussed the possibility of investment cooperation and the implementation of projects in the agro-industrial complex, mechanical engineering, transport and logistics, in the field of renewable energy and in the construction of infrastructure objects.
In her speech, He Xiaoyan, Department Director of China Council of International Commerce, Qiangdao Chamber, expressed her interest in actively establishing mutually beneficial investment and economic cooperation between Qingdao enterprises and Kazakh businesses.
According to Xu Xiang, Director of the Administrative Department of Qingdao Port International Container Development, the multimodal international port is located on the shores of the Yellow Sea with access to the world's largest markets. It occupies the 4th place in the world in terms of cargo transportation. In his speech, Xu Xiang suggested the possibility of exporting Kazakh products through the port of Qingdao to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. Also, Qingdao Port International Container Development has shown interest in the construction of a transport and logistics center on the border of the ROK-PRC to increase the volume of mutual cargo transportation.
The largest financial and industrial group "Qingdao Conson Development" is interested in implementing projects in the construction of infrastructure facilities, agro-industrial complex, finance, etc.
Qingdao Huatong Holdings is considering the possibility of international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative in such areas as international logistics, trade, bilateral investment and tourism.
Qingdao Hanhe Cable is considering the possibility of implementing a project for the production of cable products in Kazakhstan.
Zhandos Temirgali, Deputy Chairman of the Board of "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC, in his speech emphasized that Kazakhstan and China are actively developing a comprehensive strategic partnership, strengthening good neighborly relations. According to him, the implementation of projects in the agro-industrial sector, renewable energy sources and metallurgy is one of the priority areas for attracting investments.
“In the current realities, the diversification of trade routes is a priority task for us, including the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route linking the largest markets of Eurasia - China and the European Union. In addition, strengthening relations with such a large port creates an opportunity to expand the geography of deliveries of Kazakh products,” Zhandos Temirgali said.
During the visit, a delegation from China held meetings with representatives of government agencies and the quasi-public sector.
It is worth noting that on November 15 this year, an online seminar will be held with the participation of Chinese and Kazakh businesses, the purpose of which is to expand interaction between companies of the two countries, to assist in strengthening economic, trade and investment cooperation within the framework of the One Belt, One Road Initiative.
