Kazakhstan and Korea Have Agreed to Expand Their Cooperation in the Water Sector

The Kazakh-Korean Business Forum dedicated to the development of water resources took place in the city of Astana. The event aimed to study Korean experiences, new technologies, water purification methods, efficient utilization of water resources, and the enhancement of water supply systems in Kazakhstan.

Representatives from the business community, experts, governmental officials, and specialists in the field of ecology and water resources from both countries gathered at the forum. The event served as a platform for knowledge and experience exchange, as well as for establishing partnerships between Kazakh and Korean companies.

The primary focus was on water treatment and purification. Korean experts presented advanced technologies based on innovative water filtration and treatment methods that can be applied in Kazakhstan, leading to more effective water purification and higher quality.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea, Tae-ik Cho, welcomed the participants and spoke about the prospects of bilateral cooperation. He emphasized that Kazakhstan is a major investment partner of South Korea in Central Asia.

Deputy Director of the Ministry of Environment of South Korea, Keum Buyong-Uk, highlighted the country's interest in expanding relations with Kazakhstan in the water sector. He noted that such events would provide an additional impetus for the development of bilateral relations.

In turn, the Director of the Investment Attraction and Marketing Department of "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC, Nurzhan Abilkhayir, mentioned that the Republic of Korea is one of the main trade, economic, and investment partners of Kazakhstan in the Asia-Pacific region. Over the last 15 years, South Korea has invested more than $6 billion in the country's economy, and currently, around 500 companies with Korean capital are operating in the Kazakh market. He stated that the investment project portfolio of Kazakhstan and South Korea consists of 61 projects totaling $5.2 billion.

Representatives from the Committee on Water Resources of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, "Astana Su Arnasy," "Kazvodkhoz," and major South Korean companies such as "K-water," "K-eco," and "KWP" also made presentations at the event.

Representatives from both countries expressed their readiness for further cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of water supply and purification. The business forum emphasized the importance of international partnership in addressing pressing environmental issues and ensuring sustainable development, especially in the area of water resource management.
