Kazakhstan and Bulgaria Strengthen Economic Cooperation: KAZAKH INVEST Presents Investment Opportunities at Business Forum in Sofia
As part of the 5th meeting of the Kazakhstan–Bulgaria Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, a business forum was held in the Bulgarian capital with the participation of government officials and business representatives from both countries. The Kazakh delegation was headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, while the Bulgarian side was led by Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov. Both sides expressed their readiness to enhance cooperation in investment, trade, and industrial partnerships.
The investment potential of Kazakhstan was presented by Altynay Mukanova, KAZAKH INVEST’s overseas representative in Southern Europe. In her address, she provided a detailed overview of the country’s investor-friendly environment, industrial zones with ready-to-use infrastructure, government support measures, and priority sectors for localized production.
According to A. Mukanova, Kazakhstan offers practical tools for establishing export-oriented manufacturing, particularly in agribusiness, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, logistics, and the green economy.
“We invite Bulgarian companies to explore partnership opportunities and stand ready to provide full support at every stage — from site selection to project registration and launch,” she emphasized.
A special focus during the visit was placed on negotiations with Lekkerbek, a company specializing in poultry meat processing and duck meat exports to the EU. The parties discussed a potential project to build a meat processing plant in Kazakhstan with the involvement of local partners and in compliance with EU standards. The project would be geared toward export markets and the development of Kazakhstan’s livestock sector.
The forum also featured B2B meetings between Kazakh and Bulgarian companies, highlighting concrete interests in agriculture, processing, energy, pharmaceuticals, and logistics. Both sides underlined their commitment to establishing a sustainable communication platform to support ongoing business engagement and the implementation of joint projects.
