The common thread of the negotiations conducted in Astana was the active cooperation and contribution of foreign companies to the implementation of the approved Strategy for Kazakhstan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. The Strategy defines the national approaches and strategic course of state policy for decarbonization and the gradual transformation of the economy sectors.

Achieving ambitious climate goals poses a huge challenge for Kazakhstan. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions will require fundamental changes in production and consumption models, a rapid and efficient transition from non-ecological burning of fossil energy resources to carbon-neutral technologies, large-scale technological modernization, and attracting "green" investments in all sectors of the national economy.
