KAZAKH INVEST and INVEST HONG KONG exchange experience in investment attraction
KAZAKH INVEST together with the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong conducted a webinar on the topic "KAZAKH INVEST - INVEST HONG KONG Prospects for cooperation".
The online event was attended by the Director-General of INVEST HONG KONG Stefan Phillips, CEO of KAZAKH INVEST Baurzhan Sartbaev, Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong, as well as experts from the two agencies.
In his welcoming speech, Consul General R. Yerishev spoke about the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral trade and investment cooperation, and elaborated on the Address of the Head of State of Kazakhstan and the measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan to support population and business community in the new conditions.
The Director-General of INVEST HONG KONG Stefan Phillips highly appreciated the measures taken by the country's leadership to support Kazakh business, improve favorable conditions for foreign investment, and expressed willingness to further strengthen cooperation. The head of the agency also shared the main successes achieved by Hong Kong in attracting foreign investment, which is considered one of the catalysts for the Chinese economy's growth.
“In 2019, Hong Kong attracted over 9 thousand foreign companies, the number of regional offices increased by 9%, a record of 493 thousand of jobs were created,” - said Stephen Phillips.
In turn, the CEO of KAZAKH INVEST B. Sartbaev emphasized the need to further strengthen the bilateral partnership and spoke about the main directions and priorities of the company's activities, designed to ensure a stable and long-term result, as well as mitigate the consequences of the crisis.
«During today’s challenging times it is critically important to ensure maximum efforts in order to help projects succeed. We believe that public institutions and investment climate that have been formed in Kazakhstan over the past decades will ensure a stable long-term result and mitigate the effects of the crisis. Moreover, Kazakhstan has natural investment advantages, such as our geostrategic location, transit and logistic potential, rich resource base, international trade and investment agreements, and access to the world’s major markets», - stressed Baurzhan Sartbayev.
During the webinar, the parties discussed in detail the processes of interaction and providing maximum support to investors, taking into account the current geopolitical realities, as well as the challenges and needs arisen as a result of the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to support regular bilateral working contacts in order to exchange experience and achieve real results.
