Forum on Development of Oil and Gas Engineering in Atyrau
On July 10 this year, the Forum of the International Machine Building Center for the Development of Oil and Gas Engineering was held in Atyrau. The event discussed topical issues of development and attracting investments in the industry. An open day was organized for three major oil and gas operators: Tengizchevroil, North Caspian Operating Company, and Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. The forum featured Alibek Zhamauov, Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Alibek Kuantyrov, General Director, Director of the KAZENERGY Association, Leyla Gimranova, Deputy Director of the Project Department of "KAZAKH INVEST" NC" JSC, and others.
Thus, the Deputy Director presented to the participants the work of the national company and new tools and opportunities that Kazakhstan can offer to local and foreign investors. L. Gimranova noted that oil and gas engineering could become a new growth point in developing domestic value through import substitution.
"In Kazakhstan, the volume of production in the oil and gas field equipment sector last year amounted to $72.7 million, while the volume of imports in 2023 amounted to $1 billion. This is a significant difference that needs to be reduced. Therefore, with the assistance of sectoral government agencies and associations, particularly IMBC, we are actively working to identify priority goods for import substitution, the development of which is possible, including on the basis of existing domestic enterprises," the Deputy Director noted.
L. Gimranova stressed the importance of applying new approaches to improve the efficiency of the investment attraction system and the implementation of investment projects in oil and gas equipment production.
The mission of the IMB Center is to develop the production of oil and gas products in Kazakhstan through analysis, qualification, and promotion of initiatives to promote investments in the engineering industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
