Chinese Company Considers Steel Production in Kazakhstan

Managing Director Azamat Kozhanov and Director of the Project Department Bauyrzhan Aitkulov met with representatives of the Chinese Jianlong Group of companies at the site of JSC “NC “KAZAKH INVEST.”

During the meeting, Chinese investors told representatives of the national company that they are exploring the possibility of opening a plant to produce steel and steel products in Kazakhstan. The Fortune Global 500 Jianlong Group is one of China's largest steel producers with a complete industrial chain. The group's structure currently includes 14 metallurgical plants in China and abroad with a combined capacity of about 42 million tons of steel. Jianlong also engages in logistics, trade, vanadium and titanium production, and equity investments.

In turn, A. Kozhanov told the Chinese representatives about the measures of state support and Kazakhstan's investment climate and also presented the potential for implementing projects in heavy industry.

"We are introducing a new approach to attracting investments, where we identify priority industries taking into account the country's competitive advantages, which is steel production. We plan to attract investors with ready-made investment proposals in these industries. In this regard, we are ready to provide the necessary assistance in finding potential projects for producing steel and further processing steel products," said the Managing Director.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to cooperate to implement promising projects.
