Swedish Company "SCANIA" has Launched a Project for the Production of Transportation Vehicles
In the city of Saran, Karaganda Region, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden in the Republic of Kazakhstan, and "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC, a ceremony was held to launch the production of transportation equipment of the Swedish brand "SCANIA".
"This is a very important day for the relationship between Sweden and Kazakhstan. I am proud that SCANIA has chosen Kazakhstan because your country is an attractive investment platform. Of course, the position of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, plays an important role in this. Therefore, Kazakhstan, as a strong partner, is currently in focus not only for Swedish investors but for all of Europe," noted the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Kazakhstan, Ewa Polano.
Cooperating with a leading manufacturer like SCANIA opens up new prospects and opportunities for the mono-city, region, and the industry as a whole. The Kazakh plant "QazTehna" was chosen for the implementation of the project. It possesses modern technologies for the production of passenger buses, electric buses, quarrying, construction, and road machinery, as well as highly qualified personnel.

Anara Mekebayeva, the Head of Cooperation with European countries at "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC, highlighted that KAZAKH INVEST is ready to provide comprehensive support to domestic and foreign investors in implementing projects in priority sectors of the economy.
"Mechanical engineering is one of the priority sectors of the Kazakh economy. With the arrival of major investors and the implementation of the best global practices, domestic mechanical engineering has every chance to reach a competitive and export-oriented level," noted A. Mekebayeva.
The Kingdom of Sweden is an important partner of Kazakhstan in Northern Europe. The two countries have several intergovernmental agreements aimed at deepening trade and economic cooperation, promoting and protecting mutual investments. According to the National Bank of Kazakhstan, from 2005 to 2022, the gross inflow of Swedish direct investments into the Kazakh economy amounted to $556.3 million.
