Swedish Scania to Expand Its Investment Activities in Kazakhstan

Yerzhan Yelekeyev, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST," met with Pascal Zappone, Vice President of the Swedish company Scania CV AB. During the meeting, the parties discussed the company's plans to expand investment activities in Kazakhstan, including implementing an investment project to assemble power generators.

Scania CV AB manufactures industrial and marine engines, trucks, and buses. The company is represented in more than 100 countries, using sustainable, economical, and environmentally friendly solutions. In 2023, the company launched truck production in Saran, Karaganda region, with the support of KAZAKH INVEST and the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the case of launching a new production, power generators of different capacity ranges will be used in sectors of the economy such as construction, MMC, food industry, agro-industrial sector, etc.  

The head of the national company supported the plans of Scania CV AB for the implementation of the new project, assuring P. Zappone of the assistance of the Swedish company.

"In 2023, the share of imports of power generators to Kazakhstan exceeded the share of exports by more than ten times. Statistics have shown that the development of this industry sector is a priority. In this regard, we welcome the initiative of the Swedish investor to expand its activities in Kazakhstan and are ready to continue to provide a full range of services to support investment projects affecting the development of economic sectors," Y. Yelekeyev said.

In turn, P. Zappone thanked KAZAKH INVEST for its support in implementing investment projects and expressed interest in opening a regional hub of the company in Central Asia in Kazakhstan, which could increase production capacities and export potential. Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness for further development of bilateral relations and technology transfer.
