Dutch Companies are Ready to Implement Joint Projects in Kazakhstan

A delegation of Dutch companies, led by the Mayor of Westland municipality, Bouke Arends, visited Kazakhstan to hold negotiations with representatives of the public and private sectors. The delegation, which arrived on April 2nd, included 22 companies mainly working in the agro-industrial complex. As part of the visit, organized by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in the Netherlands and the Dutch Greenhouse Delta with the support of "NC" KAZAKH INVEST" JSC, investment events were held in Aktobe, Almaty, and Qonaev.

The visit aims to strengthen and develop long-term relationships in the field of agriculture between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands and to ensure the food security of both countries.

The Dutch delegation included such large companies as "Koppert", "Grodan", "Food Ventures", "Dutch Greenhouse Delta", "Boal Group" and others.

Economic relations between Kazakhstan and the Netherlands are developing dynamically. The Netherlands has long been a leader in terms of the volume of direct investment in the Kazakh economy. Thus, according to the results of 2022, the inflow of investments in Kazakhstan from the Netherlands amounted to $8.3 billion, which is 18% higher than last year. Overall, since 2011, The Netherlands has invested $85.7 billion.

In Aktobe, a conference was held on Development of greenhouse farms in Kazakhstan: Success stories and current business opportunities with the participation of the business community, financial institutions, and government organizations. The number of participants exceeded 100 people.

Participants were able to discuss and listen to presentations from leading Dutch agricultural producers on topics such as " Breeding and plant propagation," "Healthy Plants - Substrates, Biological Crop Protection, and Nutrients," "Greenhouse Construction," "Water Management, Climate Control and Energy and Lighting," and "Autonomous growing."

The Kazakhstan-Netherlands Roundtable "Protected Ground of Kazakhstan-2023. Economics in Greenhouses, IT and AI," held in Almaty, gathered more than 150 participants. The event was opened by the Deputy Governor of the Almaty Region, Arslan Dandubaev, expressing hope that the visit of Dutch companies will make a significant contribution to mutual economic development, help diversify and facilitate working conditions, as well as create better business conditions for the two countries.

The Mayor of Westland Municipality, Bouke Arends, spoke about the importance of food security for countries around the world, stating his readiness to exchange experience with Kazakh farmers to improve crop yields. According to him, Kazakhstan, which is 65 times larger than the Netherlands, has great opportunities for greenhouse production development.

The Acting Director of Dutch Greenhouse Delta, Mirjam Boekestijn, spoke on the topic "Strength in Unity. How Kazakhstan and the Netherlands Can Feed the World Together."

As part of the visit, the Dutch delegation held meetings with the Mayor of Almaty, Erbolat Dosayev, as well as with the Governors of Aktobe and Almaty regions, Eraly Tugzhanov and Marat Sultangaziev.

Overall, the visit of the Dutch delegation to Kazakhstan contributed to strengthening economic relations between the two countries, especially in the field of agriculture. Investment events held in Aktobe and Almaty provided a platform for fruitful discussions and the establishment of long-term partnership relations.
