Italy's Largest Industrial Association Opens Representative Office in Kazakhstan
The Kazakhstan branch of the Confederation of Italian Confindustria held the first General Meeting. The meeting took place on December 12 online.
Confindustria Kazakhstan, which represents the interests of Italy's largest companies and SMEs in the Kazakh market, is an integral part of the Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria), which unites 150,000 enterprises, which is about 80% of Italian companies.
The activities of Confindustria Kazakhstan will be focused on promoting business cooperation between Italian and Kazakh companies, developing business partnerships between enterprises and regions of the two countries, as well as improving the investment climate.
Another important aspect of the work of the industry organization will be interaction with specialized associations, the largest business associations of the two countries, as well as the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Italy, the Embassy of Italy in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Italian Institute of Foreign Trade (ICE).
The meeting was opened by the President of Confindustria Kazakhstan, Ernesto Ferlenghi, who spoke about the importance of relations between the countries, expressing the hope that the creation of a separate division for Kazakhstan would lead to the expansion of investment ties, as well as active participation in the implementation of new joint projects of entrepreneurs from Italy and Kazakhstan.
In addition, the Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan Marco Alberti, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Italy Yerbolat Sembayev and the Deputy Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Zeineshev made presentations. In their speeches, they called on the companies of the two countries to actively implement investment projects in Kazakhstan and Italy.
The investment potential of the Kazakhstani economy and the most promising areas of cooperation were presented to the Italian colleagues by the Director of the Investment Promotion Department of “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC Nurzhan Abilkhaiyr. In his speech, he stressed that Italy is one of the most important partners of Kazakhstan in the European Union.
In addition to companies already operating in the market of Kazakhstan, members of Italian business associations studying the prospects for cooperation with Kazakhstan were invited to participate in the meeting.

For the first half of 2022, the inflow of direct investments from Italy to Kazakhstan amounted to $47.7 million, which is 50% more than the same period in 2021.
