Kazakhstan Expands Investment Cooperation with Regions of China

As part of the visit of the delegation of the Committee for the Promotion of International Trade (CPIT) of Heilongjiang Province, the China (Heilongjiang) - Kazakhstan Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum was held. In addition, a number of bilateral meetings were held and eight documents were signed.

More than 100 representatives of the Kazakhstani and Chinese business communities participated in the forum, where issues related to the implementation of investment projects and the expansion of trade and economic cooperation were discussed.

In a welcoming speech, Su Yu, Counselor for Trade and Economic Issues of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Kazakhstan, emphasized the importance of bilateral relations within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" program, which also passes through the territory of Kazakhstan. He reminded that General Secretary of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee Xi Jinping's first visit after the pandemic was to Kazakhstan, which indicates a high level of strategic partnership and trust between the two countries.

In turn, the Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kazakhstan, Ayan Erenov, noted that China is an important trade, investment, and business partner of Kazakhstan. According to him, the business community of Kazakhstan is ready to join forces with Chinese companies to expand economic relations.

Vice President of the Heilongjiang Branch of China Construction Bank, Du Wenshi, expressed readiness to expand financing for joint investment projects in Kazakhstan.

Deputy Chairman of the Board of KAZAKH INVEST Jandos Temirgali noted that the portfolio of Kazakhstani-Chinese investment cooperation projects consists of 52 projects worth about $21 billion in priority sectors of the economy, such as agribusiness, renewable energy, mining and metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and others. Currently, there are more than 1,500 enterprises with Chinese capital operating in the country, and cooperation between the countries is deepening at the regional level, as evidenced by the visit of the delegation from Heilongjiang Province to Kazakhstan.

As part of the visit of the Chinese delegation, meetings were held with a number of Chinese companies. Thus, the Deputy Chairman of the CPIT, Tan Baichen, said that the Committee sees great prospects for deepening cooperation between the countries in the fields of agriculture, tourism, industry, bioeconomics, digital economy, and renewable energy.

As part of the visit by the Chinese delegation, meetings were held with several Chinese companies by the "National Company "KAZAKH INVEST". Deputy Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Tan Baichen said that the Committee sees great potential in deepening cooperation between the countries in the areas of agriculture, tourism, industry, bioeconomy, digital economy, and renewable energy sources (RES).

Jiusan Foods, one of China's leading companies in the agricultural product processing industry, with 12 plants in China and abroad, was offered to consider the possibility of opening a plant for processing agricultural products in Kazakhstan.

It is worth noting that the visit of the delegation from Heilongjiang Province took place with the direct participation of the KAZAKH INVEST Representative Office in China, which is actively working to attract foreign investment into the Kazakhstani economy, including making trips to regions in China to participate in conferences and hold negotiations with state and private companies.
