Kazakhstan showcases investment and trade opportunities to Brazilian Companies in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro, April 28, 2025 — A roundtable titled “Brazil–Kazakhstan: Investment and Trade Opportunities” was held in the capital of the State of Rio de Janeiro as part of ongoing efforts to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen partnerships between the two countries.
The event brought together representatives of leading Brazilian companies, industry associations, and business chambers. In his opening remarks, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akan Rakhmetullin briefed participants on Kazakhstan’s political and economic development, as well as key reforms being carried out under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Special emphasis was placed on Kazakhstan’s investment potential, advantages of its national legislation, the establishment of joint ventures, expansion of trade, and the use of Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics infrastructure as a gateway for Brazilian products to reach the markets of Central Asia, China, and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Speakers also included Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil Bolat Nussupov, President of the Brazil–Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce Cassiano Viana, and representatives of Brazilian companies already operating in Kazakhstan.
Marat Birimzhan, Representative of Kazakh Invest for the Americas, delivered a presentation on Kazakhstan’s investment climate, instruments of state support for foreign investors, and highlighted a range of investment projects in agriculture, mining, and energy sectors.
As part of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Brazil–Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce and consulting firm Athino Advisor on the launch of a new platform, “RioKaz Connections”. The platform aims to promote broader cooperation between Kazakhstan and the State of Rio de Janeiro in areas including economy, trade, tourism, culture, and academic exchange.
Following the roundtable, Mr. Rakhmetullin held separate meetings with executives of several Brazilian companies and extended an invitation to the leadership of the State of Rio de Janeiro to visit Kazakhstan with an economic delegation.
