Implementation of a Hydrogen Unit Construction Project in Pavlodar Region with an Investment of €90 Million

In the Pavlodar region on the premises of the Pavlodar Oil Refinery, one of the most significant projects for Kazakhstan’s petrochemical industry is underway — the construction of a hydrogen unit by "Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases" LLP, a joint venture between NC "KazMunayGas" JSC and the French group Air Liquide, a global leader in industrial gases. The total investment amounts to €90 million.

The project is being implemented with the support of the Pavlodar regional administration, relevant ministries, and the national company KAZAKH INVEST. This coordination ensures effective investor support and accelerates the integration of advanced international technologies.

The new facility will produce hydrogen to meet the needs of Pavlodar Oil Refinery. The implementation of innovative technologies will enable the substitution of up to 200,000 tons of imported winter diesel fuel per year, representing a significant step towards improving energy efficiency and environmental safety.

As of today, construction works are actively progressing: earthworks and piling activities have been completed. The General Construction Contractor has been mobilized and has commenced foundation construction. The first units of process equipment, as well as the majority of piping required for further installation, have been delivered to the site.

The implementation of this project demonstrates the synergy of Kazakh-French partnership and opens new prospects for sustainable development.
