Energy, Agriculture, and Engineering: Kazakhstan and France Sign Documents Worth $1.4 Billion

During the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan-France Business Forum attended by the Heads of States, 20 commercial agreements were signed for joint projects totaling over $1.4 billion. The parties agreed to collaborate in the fields of engineering, healthcare, agro-industry, education, and more.

For instance, the Investment Agreement on the implementation of a project for the production and servicing of railway locomotives and rolling stock, as well as components for railway equipment in Kazakhstan, was signed by "Alstom" and the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The agreement implies the expansion of the French company's presence in Kazakhstan, with investments amounting to $100 million.

French company "Boehringer Ingelheim," in collaboration with "QazBioPharm," will produce a vaccine against anthrax. The production and use of "Boehringer Ingelheim" vaccines in Kazakhstan will contribute to improving the epidemiological situation and granting Kazakhstan the status of an anthrax-free country, as well as subsequent increased exports of Kazakh meat products to external markets.

Furthermore, the French energy giant "Total Energies" continues the implementation of a project to construct a 1 GW wind power plant in the Zhambyl region. To this end, a joint venture is being established between JSC "Samruk-Kazyna," "AKTAS ENERGY," and "Total Energies."

During the business forum, the major French bank "Societe Generale" and the National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna" signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of corporate financing for investment projects.

French authorities and companies in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors show great interest in implementing invest projects in Kazakhstan. Several bilateral documents were signed at the forum, within the framework of which French company "C3Medical" will collaborate in the areas of detecting oncological diseases and knowledge transfer, as well as implement a pilot project to introduce a modern digital visualization system in selected clinics in Astana.

These and other signed agreements symbolize the successful development and strengthening of economic relations between France and Kazakhstan.

It is worth recalling that in November of last year, during the investment roundtable Kazakhstan-France in Paris, held within the framework of the Head of State's visit to France, 25 documents were signed totaling $3 billion.
