U.S. Congresswoman Carol Miller Visited the American Corporation Wabtec Kazakhstan
On March 21, 2025 - In the city of Astana, at the Wabtec Kazakhstan facility, a meeting was held between Gaini Duisenova, General Director of Wabtec's branch in Kazakhstan, Nurlybek Akhmetov, President of the LKZ Plant, and Madiyar Sultanbek, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" with U.S. Congresswoman Carol Miller.
During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding cooperation in the railway engineering sector, localizing production in Kazakhstan, and introducing advanced technologies into the industry. Wabtec representatives expressed their interest in strengthening partnerships and implementing joint investment projects aimed at developing the country's industrial potential.
Gaini Duisenova, General Director of Wabtec's branch in Kazakhstan, emphasized that the company views Kazakhstan as a strategic partner in the region and continues to expand its presence. As part of the meeting, she spoke about ongoing projects, including the overhaul program for Evolution series diesel engines, the digitalization of KTZ's locomotive fleet with the implementation of Trip Optimizer, and the development of a "smart railway" using advanced PTC and KINETIX technologies. Additionally, Wabtec is interested in developing and implementing new green technologies using alternative fuels for mainline locomotives, aligning with the global trend toward reducing emissions and enhancing the environmental sustainability of railway transport.
Kazakhstan, with its strategically advantageous location and well-developed transport and logistics infrastructure, offers unique opportunities for international investors. In this regard, cooperation with global technology leaders such as Wabtec is a crucial step in implementing the country’s industrial strategy and strengthening Kazakhstan’s position as a key player in the railway technology market.
Madiyar Sultanbek, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST", emphasized that the government provides comprehensive support to foreign investors by offering favorable business conditions, tax and customs incentives, and a wide range of investment tools. Kazakhstan and the United States have immense potential for developing bilateral partnerships in high-tech manufacturing, creating new opportunities to attract innovative solutions and investments to our economy.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue and explore specific steps for implementing the outlined plans.
