Kazakh and Slovak businessmen discussed the opportunities for investment cooperation

Kazakh and Slovak businessmen discussed development of bilateral investment, trade and economic cooperation during the forum in Nur-Sultan.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Slovak Republic Roman Vassilenko, the Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sungat Yesimkhanov, the First State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic Vojtech Ferencz, the Deputy CEO of KAZAKH INVEST Timur Tilinin, the Deputy CEO of QazIndustry Murat Bekmagambetov and over 100 representatives of official and business circles of the two countries attended the event.

During the roundtable, the representatives of KAZAKH INVEST presented Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities to the participants in the light of the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects and plans of the Government to develop such priority sectors of the economy as agriculture, energy, manufacturing and others. The parties placed strong emphasis on further development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and practical aspects of doing business. At the same time, the parties discussed prospects and challenges that business community faces. Business representatives of Kazakhstan and Slovakia established new business contacts.

At the same time, the CEO of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency SARIO Robert Shimonchich noted the high interest of Slovak companies in establishing their operations in Kazakhstan, strengthening business relations with Kazakh businesses and public sector as well as implementing PPP projects.

Following the event, KAZAKH INVEST and SARIO signed a memorandum of cooperation for exchange of information and organization of future events. Also, a major European manufacturer of energy-efficient equipment for electric and thermal energy generation - the Slovak company ENGUL s.r. and Kazakhstan energy company Market Solutions LLP signed a memorandum of cooperation and joint development.

It is worth noting that trade turnover between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Slovakia amounted to $ 26.3 million between January and September 2019. The gross inflow of direct investment from Slovakia to Kazakhstan amounted to $20.4 million between 2005 and the 2nd quarter of 2019. To date, about 40 companies with Slovak participation are registered in Kazakhstan in the fields, such as medicine, electricity, chemistry, manufacturing, machinery building and agriculture.
