Romanian Investors are Interested in the Chemical Industry of Kazakhstan

With the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Romania and "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC visit of the management of a major Romanian chemical company "CHIMCOMPLEX S.A." in Kazakhstan. The company is part of the industrial group "Serviciile Comerciale Romane" established in 1993 with a turnover of €192 million.

"CHIMCOMPLEX S.A." products made of organic chemicals are used in the manufacture of products starting from polyurethane soles for shoes and foams for mattresses to wind trays and hybrid car batteries.

The product range of the company is wide: polyols, octanol, isobutanol, propylene oxide, solid and liquid caustic soda, hydrochloric acid and sodium hypochlorite, iron chloride, calcium chloride, bleach, mono methylamine, dimethylamine, trimethylamine, isopropylamine (the only manufacturer in Romania of chlorine-based biocide active substances), sodium hypochlorite, bleach lime. The products are used in the production of machinery, furniture, earthworks, packaging, construction, household insulation and other industries.

Over two days, the President of SCR Group - Chairman of the Board of Directors of "CHIMCOMPLEX S.A." Stefan Wuza and Dumitri Comana, Technical director of the company held meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Energy, "NC "KAZAKH INVES" JSC, "Samruk-Kazyn" JSC, "NC "KazMunayGas" JSC, "NC "QazaqGaz" JSC, "Samruk-Kazyna Ondeu" LLP and Astana International Financial Center.


In the course of negotiations, Romanian companies expressed interest in implementing investment projects jointly with the Kazakhstani side, in particular, to launch a сhlor-alkali plant producing caustic soda, sodium hypochlorite, and methanol from natural gas. The investors are also ready to cooperate with companies from Kazakhstan specializing in the production of petrochemical products».

"For its part, KAZAKH INVEST is ready to provide a range of support services for the implementation of investment projects, including the choice of region, establishing an effective dialogue with the relevant government agencies and organizations, as well as advice on government support measures», -  summed up the Chairman of the Management Board "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC Meirzhan Yussupov.


"The company has a lot of experience in the production of deep processing chemicals. We see that there is an opportunity to jointly with Kazakhstani private groups to develop the processing of phosphates. There are unique solutions for the production of hydrogen as well. We will continue consultations and work", -  added the Managing director of "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC Azamat Kozhanov.

To date, Romania remains one of the leading trade partners of Kazakhstan. Kazakh-Romanian diplomatic relations have been established since July 1992.  

The main items of Kazakhstani exports are oil, chemical products, and metals. Kazakhstan's main exports are metals and metal products, products of the chemical and related industries, plastics, and rubber.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, trade turnover in 2021 amounted to $1.57 billion (exports-$1.52 billion, imports-$48 million, which is 17.3% more than in 2020. In 2020, trade turnover was $1.33 billion (exports-$1.26 million, imports-$73 million). Gross investment inflow from Romania to Kazakhstan from 2005 to 2021 amounted to $1.57 billion. 24 companies with Romanian participation are registered in Kazakhstan. There are 17 legal entities with Kazakh capital in Romania. The Kazakh-Romanian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, and technical cooperation is active.
