Kazakhstan and Germany Enter a New Stage of Cooperation

An official visit of the Kazakh delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan R.Sklyar to the Federal Republic of Germany took place. The delegation included Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almas Aidarov, Vice Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Orazbek, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Germany Dauren Karipov, as well as the leadership of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC, “Zerde” NI” JSC, etc.

During the visit, the delegates held substantive negotiations with the heads of large companies such as "J.A. Woll Handels GmbH", "EOS GmbH", "Gigaset AG", "Svevind Group", "Schaeffler AG", at which issues on the implementation of potential projects in the field of ICT, energy, trade, mechanical engineering, etc. were discussed.

Thus, at a meeting with “J.A. Woll Handels GmbH”, one of the leading German retail chains specializing in the sale of products and goods in the low price segment, the possibility of the company's participation in the organization of production in Kazakhstan was considered. During negotiations with the management of “EOS GmbH”, the company expressed interest in opening an innovation center and training courses in Kazakhstan, similar to the centers in Germany.

At the meeting with the President of the German company “Svevind Group” Wolfgang Kropp, the parties paid special attention to the issues of state support from the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the implementation of the project for the production of "green" hydrogen in Kazakhstan. It should be noted that on September 13 of this year, a bilateral meeting of the company was held with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.K. Tokayev, and on October 6, during the trip of the Kazakh delegation to Sweden, a Roadmap for the implementation of the project until 2031 was signed with the “Svevind Group” company.


In addition, during the visit at the site of one of the world's leading machine-building companies “Schaeffler AG” chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan R.Sklyar organized a round table with the participation of about 70 representatives of business circles, as well as business communities of both countries on the topic: “New technologies in mechanical engineering - digitalization as a driver of growth”.


Opening the event, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan R.Sklyar noted the significant role of German business in strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with Kazakhstan in various sectors of the economy, including the machine-building industry.


"Productive joint work is underway between our countries at all levels in industrial, trade, economic, technological and other spheres. One of the striking examples of successful cooperation is the project for the production of agricultural machinery in the North Kazakhstan region, implemented jointly with CLAAS. This once again testifies to the high confidence on the part of German investors in the development of activities in Kazakhstan", - added R. Sklyar.

Also in his opening statement, the President of Schaeffler AG, Klaus Rosenfeld, highly appreciated the potential of investment cooperation between Germany and Kazakhstan, noting that the company is ready to become an industrial partner of Kazakhstan in industrial modernization.


“We are already cooperating with Kaztemirtrans JSC in terms of modernization and overhaul of wheelset bearings. Taking into account the modernization, the bearings are operated longer, thereby reducing the amount of industrial emissions during the production of new bearings”, - added the head of “Schaeffler AG”.

“Germany is one of the leaders of mechanical engineering in the world. The transfer of innovative technologies, the creation of joint ventures in mechanical engineering is very important for us, and we also invite German investors to Kazakhstan”, - said Chairman of the Board of the Union of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan (MBK) Meiram Pshembayev.


Also during the meeting, Meiram Pshembayev presented the prospects of industrial partnership and joint cooperation in such sectors as oil and gas engineering, engineering for mining and metallurgy, agro-industrial complex, renewable energy sources.

At the same time, Chairman of the Management Board of “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC Meirzhan Yussupov made a presentation on the investment potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as preferences applied in the state system of attracting investments, and other tools that create a favorable climate for foreign business in Kazakhstan.

“Today Kazakhstan is carrying out large-scale reforms designed to promote economic diversification and create favorable conditions for business and investment. Thus, speaking about the strengthening of bilateral relations and investment cooperation between our countries, it should be noted that the country's leadership pays special attention to Germany. I hope that in the future, thanks to such support, we will start implementing joint investment projects. We are already gradually taking steps to strengthen our relations with Germany. For the record, there are already several German companies that consider Kazakhstan as a destination for their investments”, - added Meirzhan Yussupov.


In addition, on the sidelines of the event, the 1st meeting of the Coordinating Committee on Investment Projects was organized with the participation of “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC and the Eastern Committee of the German Economy, where the interim results of joint work within the framework of the implementation of investment projects and agreements according to the Joint Plan signed during the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan K.K.Tokayev to Germany in 2019 were summed up.


During the meeting, R. Sklyar stressed that to date, certain successes have already been achieved in the implementation of joint projects. It was also noted that the functioning of the Coordinating Committee in the field of industrialization and investment will bring a new impetus and a significant contribution to the expansion of business ties and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany.

In turn, Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy Michael Harms said that in order to strengthen trade, economic and friendly ties between the two countries, the Eastern Committee will make every effort to further work on the implementation of joint projects with the Kazakh side.

During the meeting, the Committee approved a list of joint projects, and an agreement was reached to hold meetings based on the results of monitoring the implementation of joint projects.

During the stay of the Kazakh delegation in Germany, meetings with the management and visits to the production sites of the companies “adidas AG” and “PUMA SE” were also held.
