KAZAKH INVEST Discusses Prospects of Cooperation with CHN Energy, Chinese Coal Mining Giant
At the site of JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST," Director of the Projects Department Bauyrzhan Aitkulov met with representatives of the Chinese coal mining giant CHN Energy. During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility of cooperation through the implementation of joint projects in Kazakhstan.
Earlier in August 2024, Chairman of the Board of the National Company Yerzhan Yelekeyev made a working visit to the People's Republic of China, during which he met with several Chinese investors. One of the critical meetings was the discussion of cooperation with representatives of CHN Energy, China's leading state-owned energy company for coal mining and processing. As a result of this meeting, the technical delegation of CHN Energy arrived in Kazakhstan to study the possibilities of cooperation in detail.
Within the framework of the visit, organized with the assistance of KAZAKH INVEST, the delegation will visit coal deposits in three regions of Kazakhstan. The company's experts will assess the potential of coal mining regions and discuss the prospects for investments in the development of the country's coal chemical industry.
The proposed cooperation with CHN Energy may be an important step for Kazakhstan in the development of the coal chemical industry. Investments and advanced technologies from Chinese partners will open up new opportunities for economic diversification, advanced coal processing and the production of high-tech products.
More than 400 different products can be obtained by processing coal, the cost of which is 20-25 times higher than the cost of coal itself. At the same time, the price of coal is lower and more stable than that of gas and oil. Currently, the share of coal products in Kazakhstan is 3%. According to preliminary calculations, the unused potential is $25 billion, which indicates excellent opportunities for investment and cooperation in this area.
