13 Agreements Signed in Budapest
During the Head of State's visit to Hungary, 13 commercial and interdepartmental agreements were signed. The agreements aim to achieve strategic cooperation in Kazakhstan's sectors of agriculture, transport, petrochemicals, and logistics. In particular, a number of agreements aim to ensure food security in the region.
Among them could be highlighted the Framework Agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and UBM Group to implement projects for producing mixed feeds and premixes in Kazakhstan. The company plans to invest in creating four feed mills, one plant for producing premixes, several laboratories, and a training center. Another important agreement was the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Alfaseed on organizing seed production in Kazakhstan. The company plans to organize sorghum seed production in Kazakhstan and process and export products to neighboring countries. JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" provides active support for both projects.
Similarly, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Hungarian company L.A.C. Holding, and the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Biological Sciences signed a Memorandum on the joint organization of corn seed production in Kazakhstan.
These initiatives are especially important to reduce the shortage of compound feeds and seeds in Kazakhstan, which is strategically important for the country's food security. Dependence on imports in these segments has a serious impact on agriculture, reducing its efficiency and increasing the cost of production. Thus, in order to meet the need for high-quality seeds, about 267 thousand tons of various types of seeds were imported. This is due to the need for more domestic varieties, especially in the cereals and oilseeds segments.
The need for more high-quality compound feeds and premixes in Kazakhstan also creates difficulties for livestock farming. In 2023, due to the high cost of imported components, the cost of production increased, affecting the prices of meat and dairy products. Local feed production is limited, and new investment projects are being implemented, such as the launch of four feed mills by UBM Group, an important step to stabilize the industry.
To further develop the livestock industry in Kazakhstan, JSC "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" signed a Memorandum with ESAPDA Llc. The document aims to create an export-oriented complex for breeding waterfowl and meat and feather production. The entire production cycle is planned to include all stages, from egg incubation and poultry breeding to meat and feather production.
The signed agreements aim to reduce dependence on imports, increase the competitiveness of the agricultural sector, and strengthen food security in Kazakhstan. Implementing these projects will create conditions for the sustainable development of agriculture and related industries, the development of the country's export potential, the attraction of advanced technologies, and the creation of jobs in rural areas.
