Types of visas

Visas are divided into the following types:

  1. nonimmigrant
  2. immigrant
  3. exit.

Nonimmigrant visas include:

  1. diplomatic - «А1», «А2»;
  2. service - «А3», «А4»;
  3. investor- «А5»;
  4. business - «В1», «В2», «В3»;
  5. missionary - «C7»;
  6. tourist - «В12»;
  7. private - «В10»;
  8. transit - «В13».

Immigrant visas include:

  1. for residency - «C1;
  2. family reunion - «C2»;
  3. educational - «C9»;
  4. employment - «C3», « C4», « C5», « C6»;
  5. humanitarian purposes - «C8».

Exit visas include: «В14», « В15», «В16», « В17», « В18», « В19», «В20», «В21», «В22».

Types and categories of visa shall correspond to the purposes of the visa recipient’s stay in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Visas are issued by foreign offices of the Republic of Kazakhstan, or the RoK MFA on the basis of one of the following documents:

a) note verbale (indicating the position of the invited person, that he/she was appointed, and in the case of replacement, the position, name and surname of the replaced employee);

On the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan the visa recipient should be accredited in the MFA. After the expiration of the accreditation period in the MFA (or in the case of denial of accreditation), the single-entry visa will be issued up to 90 days to exit the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The visa recipient enters and exits the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan only by the transport corresponding to the category of visas obtained.

The visa is issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of the application of foreigners or stateless persons residing in the Republic of Kazakhstan from countries with which there are international agreements on visa-free entry, ratified by the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as those who hold C3 visa category.

Persons who have presented proof of force majeure, delay or cancellation of flight, the departure of a train or other vehicle, preventing the exit of the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan before the expiry of the visa or permitted visa-free period of stay.

Persons who reported on suffering from acts against them recognized in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan as grave or especially grave crimes.

Permanent residence visa

Visas are issued by foreign offices of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of the following documents:

1) documents confirming the applicant’s nationality - in the absence of a record of ethnicity in identity documents;

2)  documents confirming the right to be included in the quota for repatriates immigration as a priority (if any);

3) information about the absence of the applicant and his family members of any diseases mentioned in the list of diseases that prohibit the entry of foreigners and stateless persons in the Republic of Kazakhstan, approved by the Order of the Minister of Public Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated September 30, 2011 No. 664 (registered in the Register of state registration of normative legal acts No. 7274);

4) a document confirming the presence or absence of a criminal record.

Family reunification visa

Persons who are family members of the RoK nationals, permanently residing in the RoK, ethnic Kazakhs and former compatriots and who received a temporary residence permit in the RoK (for a period not less than two years), foreigners and stateless persons permanently residing in the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as business immigrants.

Visas are issued by foreign offices of the Republic of Kazakhstan (without the consent of the MIA) on the basis of the following documents:

1) a petition of the inviting person (in any form);

2) a temporary residence permit of the inviting person, with the exception of the citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan (notarized copy);

3) an identity document of the inviting person and family members (notarized copy);

4) Evidence of funds availability of the inviting person for the living of each family member per month in the amount not less than the minimum wage established by the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the republican budget;

5) Evidence of a property of the inviting person on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which area meets the minimum standards for each family member, as well as sanitary and other requirements established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan (notarized copy);

6) medical insurance for family members of the inviting person;

7) a document confirming the family relationship with the inviting person, submitted by the authorized state bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan or a foreign state (a notarized copy);

8) a document confirming the presence or absence of a criminal record for adult family members.

The visa is issued by the MIA at the request of the inviting party in the presence of a permit issued to the employer to hire foreign labor, or documents confirming that, in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan or international treaties to which the Republic of Kazakhstan is the party, the visa recipient is not required to have permission for employment or recruitment of foreign labor force.

  4. a document about the presence or absence of criminal convictions, issued by the authorized body of the country of nationality or permanent residence;
  5. a document about the presence or absence of the prohibition to carry out business activities on the basis of a court decision, issued by the competent authority of the country of nationality or permanent residence .

2) Persons studying in educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, implementing educational programs of secondary education, technical and vocational, post-secondary, higher and postgraduate education, including organized exchanges of students and passing training courses programs, as well as their family members;

3) Ethnic Kazakhs temporarily arrived in the Republic of Kazakhstan and enrolled in educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan and arrived on a visa-free regime, as well as their family members.

a) documents issued by a medical institution located in the Republic of Kazakhstan, confirming the need for constant care for foreign patients under treatment in medical institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

b) documents issued by a medical institution located in the Republic of Kazakhstan, confirming the need for constant care for close relatives - citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan or foreigners permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan ;

c) instruction of the RoK MIA.

3) Persons traveling to the Republic of Kazakhstan with the aim of caring for close relatives - citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan or foreigners permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and are being treated in hospitals;

4) Persons who are in the Republic of Kazakhstan in case of need to care for close relatives - citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan or foreigners permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and are being treated in hospitals.

Note:

The degree of kinship of the persons referred to in paragraphs 3) and 4) shall be determined in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
