“Skoda Transportation” is Considering the Possibility of Cooperation in the Machine-Building Industry of Kazakhstan

The prospects for the implementation of projects in the field of heavy engineering were discussed during the meeting of the head of the Central Asian division of “Skoda Transportation” with the leadership of akimats in Nur-Sultan and Almaty cities, “NC “KTZ” JSC, the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Czech country, as well as “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC.

Thus, during a meeting with the representative of “Skoda Transportation”, the company noted a high interest in localizing production, as well as organizing a service center for electric trains, mainly rolling stock for the needs of railway transport.

“We believe in the huge potential for the development of mechanical engineering in Kazakhstan and view Kazakhstan as a strategic partner. In turn, we are ready to familiarize ourselves in detail with the investment opportunities of this industry in Kazakhstan, as well as to consider possible options for localizing our enterprise during the upcoming visit under the leadership of the Vice President of the company”, - said Roman Sorkin, Director for Central Asia of “Skoda Transportation”.


It is worth noting that “Skoda Transportation” is a leading European manufacturer of vehicles for urban and rail transport, a dynamic and growing company with more than 150 years of manufacturing tradition.

“Today the volume of imports of engineering products occupies a significant share in the market of Kazakhstan - about 40% of total imports. The mechanical engineering industry has significant potential for expanding production and increasing exports”, - said the Counselor-Envoy, the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Czech Republic, Birzhan Kaneshev.

In turn, the representative of “NC “KAZAKH INVEST” JSC Altynai Mukanova stated that in the course of further support of the above project, KAZAKH INVEST is ready to assist in obtaining appropriate measures of state support and conducting negotiations with interested companies and government agencies.

In conclusion, Kanat Almagambetov, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of “NC “KTZ” JSC, noted the need to develop a hub system and readiness for strategic partnership with the company, taking into account compliance with certification requirements and profitable subsidies also from the Czech side.

As an outcome of the meeting, the parties agreed on further close cooperation in the implementation of investment projects.

It should be noted that mechanical engineering is one of the leading industries in the Czech Republic, with a production base of over 1,100 companies. In addition, the Czech Republic exports about 90% of its engineering products mainly to the EU countries, as well as to the markets of Asia and Latin America.
