GDP Structure

Thus, good manufacture as of January – March 2016 yielded 3 171 252,4 million tenge, including agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 193 292,1 million tenge; production sector – 2 663 770,5 million tenge; construction –314 189,8 million tenge; production services – 5 425 893,9 million tenge; taxes on products – 707 401,8 million tenge. As of January – March 2016 the share of goods manufacture in the GDP is 34,1%, services - 58,3%.

Economic geography

Kazakhstan consists of five large economic regions:

  • North Kazakhstan — efficient grain economy, extraction of iron ore and coal, mechanical engineering, production of oil products and ferroalloys, and energy.
  • East Kazakhstan – efficient nonferrous industry, energy, mechanical engineering and forestry products.
  • West Kazakhstan is one of the largest oil and gas extraction regions.
  • Central Kazakhstan – efficient ferrous and nonferrous industries, mechanical engineering, and cattle breeding.
  • South Kazakhstan – cotton, rice, wool, grain, fruits, vegetables, grapes; efficient nonferrous industry, instrument manufacturing, light manufacturing, food production, fish farming, and forestry products.


Foreign trade

Major trading partners are the CIS countries and the Baltic States. The largest trading partners are Italy, China and Russia. Successfully developing trade relations with non-CIS countries, such as Germany, the Netherlands, Turkey, Switzerland, Romania, France, Austria, the USA, Spain, South Korea, and others.
