Kazakhstan's investment opportunities presented at the Toronto Global Forum 2019 in Canada

KAZAKH INVEST presented Kazakhstan's investment opportunities and promising industries as well as informed foreign businessmen about the measures of state support for investors during the Toronto Global Forum 2019 in Canada.

The major event was attended by the Government officials, the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, various international organisations and the heads of central banks.

During the forum, Kazakhstan’s delegation comprising the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Canada Akylbek Kamaldinov and the representatives of KAZAKH INVEST conducted over 30 meetings with the heads of transnational corporations and large companies from Canada, the USA and Latin America. 

During the meetings,  the business representatives learnt about Kazakhstan’s niche investment projects in the field of agribusiness, chemistry, energy as well as mining and metallurgy.

Thus, during negotiations with the representatives of Gurnet Point Capital (the USA), the parties discussed development of a medical hub in Kazakhstan, particularly implementation of innovative projects in the medical field and pharmaceuticals. 

“The world leaders and multinational corporations are now in search of promising new markets in developing countries. In turn, Kazakhstan is a very promising country in the Central Asian region for expanding our production in various directions,” - said Christopher A. Viehbacher, the Managing Partner of Gurnet Point Capital. 

Additionally, the delegates discussed promising projects in the fields of meat and soybean processing with the Argentine investors from Integra Capital. 

“Together with our American partners, we are ready to study projects in Kazakhstan and consider the country as a platform for new investment opportunities. In the near future, we will visit production sites in Kazakhstan and connect with the owners of local companies by the end of the year,” - said Dr. José Luis Manzano, the President of Integra Capital.

Following the meetings, a number of companies expressed interest in investment projects, such as methanol production in West Kazakhstan region, localization of special equipment, as well as lithium mining and processing, among others. Also, new trends in digitalization and cybersecurity were discussed with leading global companies.
