ACWA POWER is Considering Building a Wind Farm with a Capacity of 1 GW in Kazakhstan

One of the world's leading companies in the field of renewable energy sources ACWA Power announced plans to create a wind farm in Kazakhstan. As Clive Turton, Chief Investment Officer of the company, noted at a meeting with the Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ardak Zebeshev and the Chairman of the Board of "NC "KAZAKH INVEST" JSC Meirzhan Yussupov, Kazakhstan has a colossal potential in the field of renewable energy.

ACWA POWER ranks among the world's leading companies in the field of renewable energy sources, in particular in the production of electricity and desalinated water. The company's energy portfolio includes 67 assets in 13 countries, including efficient combined cycle power plants, solar and concentrated solar (CSP), geothermal, wind, and waste-to-energy (WtE). The total capacity of the projects exceeds 42.7 GW of electricity and the company's total investment in portfolio projects is up to US$66.5 billion.

“Relations with the Republic of Kazakhstan are very important for us. In order to implement the project, we plan to open an office in your country. We take it seriously and intend to implement the wind farm project,” said Clive Turton.

Ardak Zebeshev, Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, recalled that the Head of State, during his visit to Saudi Arabia, expressed interest in using the Saudi experience in the field of renewable energy sources. The Investment Committee and the national company KAZAKH INVEST are ready to provide full support to ACWA POWER during the implementation of the project in Kazakhstan

“Taking into account the strategy for carbon neutrality of Kazakhstan until 2060 designated by the Head of State, where the commissioning of new large renewable energy facilities is extremely important. I would also like to note that this industry in Kazakhstan is developing dynamically - creating a highly competitive environment in the market, projects in this area are being implemented by companies from all over the world,” emphasized Meirzhan Yussupov

As part of ACWA Power's visit to Kazakhstan, organized by MFA RK, KAZAKH INVEST with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Saudi Arabia, company representatives also met with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tileuberdi and Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov.
