National Company for Investment Support and Promotion

Within the framework of the forthcoming visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev to the business forum "Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan", the Minister for Investments and Development Zhenis Kasymbek opened an exhibition of Kazakhstan products at UzExpoCentre exhibition center in Tashkent. There are about 90 leading Kazakhstan manufacturers with more than 500 names of products of machine-building, food, pharmaceutical, chemical, metallurgical, construction, packaging and IT industries presented.

The Deputy Minister for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Khairov, the Chairman of the Board of KAZAKH INVEST Maksat Kabashev, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of KAZAKH INVEST Meirzhan Maikenov and the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Investments Shamil Burnashayev took part in the opening ceremony.

Zhenis Kasymbek, the Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, noted in his welcoming speech that "The Republic of Uzbekistan is a strategic partner of Kazakhstan. An increase in the foreign trade turnover by 35% in the first half of 2017 indicates that our countries have sufficient potential for active trade and economic relations".

The are 16 cars and buses of Kazakhstan manufacture presented at the exhibition: a line of such cars as Peugeot, Lada, JAC Electric Cars, as well as military equipment and armored cars: R-142N command vehicle based on KAMAZ vehicle, P-409 MTS Radio Station based on KAMAZ vehicle, VOS-4 (Military Distillation Unit), BKM ARLAN 4x4.

After exhibition, the military equipment will be sent to the polygon of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan for demonstration tests before the military experts.

"Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are traditional trading partners," noted Meirzhan Maikenov, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of KAZAKH INVEST NC JSC. "Now we see new vectors of the country's economy development, the exchange rate is being liberalized, the excise tax rates on imported excisable goods - 15 commodity items, including flour, sunflower oil, meat products, etc., - have been reduced from September 1, 2017 in Uzbekistan. This certainly increases the interest of the Kazakh business in cooperation with the entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan. Within the exhibition, we expect to sign the contracts on products supply, opening the trade missions, creation of joint ventures in the territory of Uzbekistan. Thus, the Kazakhstan transformer manufacturer signed an agreement on creation of a transformer joint production based on the Chirchik machine-building plant Energomash. The Kazakhstan car manufacturer AllurAuto is currently negotiating with a potential dealer on the territory of Uzbekistan and plans to supply a trial lot in the amount of 7 cars".

At present, the products of Kazakhstan manufacturers are already supplied to the market of Uzbekistan: rails, medicines, pumping stations, telecommunications equipment, pipes, food, building materials and others.

All these factors will undoubtedly have a positive impact on an increase in trade turnover between two countries. By the end of 2017, the expected volume of trade turnover will be about 2 billion US dollars, where the largest increase will be accounted for an increase in the supply of Kazakhstan's export.
